    Well things progress, the water temps are 72 degrees (22C) in the fish tank and the DWC tank runs 64-68 degrees (18-20C). I’ve added 2 small handfuls of Urea over 4 days and a small handful of powdered seaweed to put some nutrition in the system. On Monday I also added 6 small Koi (6 inches). Two of the stupid things jumped out of the tank last night! That was a waste! Now I have a foam cover over it.

    Today’s project was building the raft tank. I used a 4’ x 8’ (1200mm x 2400mm) sheet of ½ inch (12mm) plywood and 2” x 12” (50mm x 300mm) pressure treated lumber. I built the box using 3”(75mm) long wood screws. I put the plywood on top, and screwed it down around the edges with 2 ½” inch (62mm) .     When I started planting I had insufficient lighting, at least my lighting was too far from the plants. Everything that came up was reaching for the light and became long and lanky. I lowered the lights to within about 2" of the plants and moved the second light from the unfinished growbed over the plants. Things began growing well after that, but the lankiness really affected the radishes. They were supposed to be about three inch cylinderical and they ended up about 6" with only the bottom ...

    Yet another day gone and AT LAST there is water. Nothing every goes as easy as it looks.

    This day’s work started a month ago with diagrams and elevations and planning. I redid the plan at least 3 times. First a Two Pump system with dump tanks, then a two pump system on timers and floats, then a single pump system with bell siphons and pump in the sump.
