Basing my design of my room size and the given constants previously discussed I came up with this design.
This allows me to grow tall vine plants, short shrub plants, have a small area for DWC via floating raft and a verticle channel system. This system will start with 12 4 tube 40watt fluorescent lights that I picked up from a salvage yard. My tank is 350 gallons
From that I came to the conclusion that my tank would be 120" x 36" x 24"
My double decker grow bed would be 120" x 36" x 8" the 8" would allow moderate buildup of bacteria to filter and nutrients for the plants. These two grow beds would allow me to grow herbs, teas, carrots, peppers, green onions, chives.
My single grow bed would be 110" x 36" x 10". The open area above would allow me to vine my tomatoes, grow beans, peas, zucchini & spaghetti squash
The 4" x 3.5' tubes at the back would allow for strawberries, possibly goji berries, shrub cherries & would be filled with grow media for additional filtration and be fed on the upper tank overflow
The top tank would be 41" x 48" x 6" & allow me to have floating raft to grow lettuce and spinach. I would also have at least 1 raft on the surface of the main tank
