Air diffuser idea

I don't know if this will work, but the thought just struck me. Could leaky pipe, the drip irrigation pipe stuff made from rubber tires, be used as an air diffuser in a fish tank? Has anyone thought of this and tried it? I am sure it would be less expensive than air stones. What are your thoughts and/or experiences?

I've heard of some people using that stuff, but I have my reservations. The biggest drawback I see is that the holes are usually pretty large in comparison to air diffuser units. Considering how affordable even high end diffusers are, I would probably just stick with the tried and true.

You are probably right. Not all my ideas are good. Well, most of my ideas are not good. But if I don't keep trying I may not think up the one that will change the world.
